May 2022 Marketing Ideas for the Hospitality Industry

The month of May brings warmer weather, outdoor dining, and many noteworthy hospitality industry holidays that could be used in your restaurant, venue, or catering company’s marketing initiatives. We are here to tell you how to get creative on social media this month with a list of marketing ideas specifically made for the hospitality industry.

When it comes to promoting drink holidays in the month of May, we have a list of important ones. #NationalOrangeJuiceDay on May 4 may be a fun time to plug your mimosa bar. #NationalBeverageDay on May 6 shouts out every kind of beverage, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. #WorldCocktailDay is a must-celebrate for restaurants to show off their bartender’s latest creations on May 13. #NationalWhiskyDay is only a week later on May 21 and is another opportunity to show off specific cocktails. Lastly, summery wine is having a moment in the month of May with not one, but three holidays: #NationalMoscatoDay on May 9, #NationalPinotGrigioDay on May 17, and #NationalWineDay on May 25. Nothing to “wine” about here!

Next, let’s talk about promoting food offerings throughout May. Mexican restaurants can have fun with #NationalEnchiladaDay on May 5 while celebrating #CindoDeMayo. If Mediterranean food is more your restaurant category, #InternationalHummusDay on May 13 would be a great day to promote the various hummus flavors on your menu. For the barbecue restaurants out there, mark your calendars for #NationalBarbecueDay on May 16. Finally, not that there needs to be a reason to eat pizza, but pizzerias will be happy to hear that #NationalPizzaPartyDay takes place on May 20.

The month of May also includes noteworthy dessert holidays that could be a great staple to the end of your menu. Stay simple with #NationalTruffleDay on May 2 or #NationalMacaroonDay on May 31, a little more thoughtful with #NationalButterscotchBrownieDay on May 9, or commit to #NationalDevilsFoodCakeDay on May 19. Regardless, your dessert menu will be mouth-watering.
