5 Michelin Star Restaurants That are Offering Takeout and Delivery for Valentine’s Day
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused restaurants to do things that they would have never thought to do before. One of these twists is the fact that Michelin Star restaurants began offering takeout and delivery items for customers.
When we think of Michelin Star restaurants, we think of incredible and innovative cuisine, but with a high price tag and perhaps unattainable to the normal person going out for a meal. Now, these same restaurants are offering takeout at a much lower price point which gives many more people access to these elite restaurants.
If you have not enjoyed a Michelin Star restaurant meal yet, check out the list below sharing some of the restaurants offering takeout and delivery for Valentine’s Day!
Alinea — Chicago, Ill.
When thinking of fine dining in Chicago, Alinea is at the top of the list. Alinea is known as one of the country’s most innovative and expensive dining establishments, which is why it takes at least two months of planning ahead to book a reservation in non-COVID times.
Instead of the $400 per person price tag to dine at Alinea, the Michelin Star restaurant is currently offering a special five-course tasting menu for Valentine’s Day to be picked up and reheated at home. The menu includes Osetra caviar, smoked squash soup, diver scallops, ribeye of American beef, and chocolate dessert. This pickup package is priced at $95 per person and is made for parties of two. Place your order through Tock, and enjoy this special meal from Alinea with your loved one.
Gramercy Tavern — New York, NY
Are you going to be in Manhattan on Valentine’s Day weekend? Then consider trying out Gramercy Tavern, a Michelin star restaurant located in the Flatiron District. This tavern is part of the notable Union Square Hospitality Group, started by Danny Meyer.
Gramercy Tavern is offering a special Valentine’s Day dinner for two at just $150. The meal includes a first course of green market stir-fry with spicy shrimp, Carolina gold rice, and winter vegetables. The main course can be chosen per order with either the chicken pot pie with root vegetables or the monkfish with cauliflower, barley, and olives. As for dessert, the meal comes with a chocolate molten cake with salted caramel sauce. This meal can be easily refrigerated and then reheated with given instructions. If you’re interested, head over to Gramercy Tavern’s website to place your order today.
Atelier Crenn — San Francisco, Calif.
Atelier Crenn is a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in San Francisco, with its female chef, Chef Dominique Crenn, ranked as the world’s best female chef in 2016. This San Francisco restaurant is known for its French cuisine with touches of local seafood and produce. Of course, this elite dining experience comes at a high price tag in normal dining times and while not all of their takeout packages are necessarily affordable to everyone, they are much more so than before.
For Valentine’s Day, Atelier Crenn is offering a special basket for pickup called Crenn Avec Amour which means “Crenn with love” in French. The basket is perfect for two and comes with California caviar, buckwheat blinis and traditional accouterment, artisanal cheese with crostini, and a hand-crafted selection of chocolate bonbons and ganache by Chef Juan Contreras. The cost is $190 per person and can be picked up directly from the restaurant. Sounds like the perfect meal for a romantic evening!
Eleven Madison Park — New York, NY
The 3 Michelin star Eleven Madison Park has been offering takeout for quite some time now considering the lack of indoor dining in New York City. While they have a special roast chicken dinner that has been available for the past few months, there is something new to be expected for Valentine’s Day, which will be available through Sunday, Feb. 14.
The EMP At Home Valentine’s Day Dinner serves two guests and includes foie gras terrine with apple, maple, and brioche; lobster pie with lemongrass and potato; bone marrow-crusted beef tenderloin with Bordelaise; creamed kale with parmesan; rainbow carrots, cumin, and vadouvan granola; winter greens salad with radish and citrus vinaigrette; dark chocolate and passion fruit tart; and chocolate and hazelnut granola. This package goes for $325 total, or otherwise seen as $162.50 per person.
This sounds like an incredible package, and what makes it even better is that every dinner purchased allows Eleven Madison Park to provide 10 meals to their neighbors in need with their partners at Rethink Food. As a guest, you would be enjoying a delicious meal and also giving back to the NYC community.
Gabriel Kreuther — New York, NY
Gabriel Kreuther, a 2 Michelin Star restaurant located in Midtown, Manhattan, has also been offering a variety of takeout options throughout the pandemic. For Valentine’s Day this year, they have two different options to take out and enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
The first is a Valentine’s Day Meal Kit for two that comes with marinated local farro salad, chilled blue shrimp, roasted butternut squash velouté, spice-rubbed and smoked short rib, and a white chocolate and vanilla mousse. Full item descriptions can be found on the Gabriel Kreuther Tock site, and bought for a total of $325. All packages come refrigerated and include reheating instructions.
Gabriel Kreuther is also offering a special five-course Valentine’s Day Dinner to Go which includes marinated Alaskan king crab, roasted diver scallops, house-made chestnut gnocchetti, spice-rubbed prime strip steak, and chocolate sticky toffee pudding. As this is a full five-course meal, the price runs a little higher at $235 per person, but for that menu, sounds worth it if it’s in your budget!
