3 Changes You Can Make to Event Documents with Tripleseat’s New PDF Converter

Documents are crucial to the event planning process. They lay out expectations between venues and clients about the terms of an event, outline all of the big and small tasks that come together to manage each event, instruct the kitchen on what to make for the menu, and — most importantly — instruct clients on the terms of payment.

Whether your venue is using digital or printed documents, you want them to have the right look and layout. Our new PDF converter now allows all Tripleseat customers more flexibility for creating and customizing documents. Let’s take a look at the three changes this update makes to the way you use documents in Tripleseat:

1. Margins
You can control the layout of the document’s top, bottom, left, and right margins. The PDF converter also makes page breaks cleaner because it knows where to insert a page break. This means you can print documents without pages being cut off. The tool also enables you to see how many pages will print and a preview of what the document will look like on paper.

2. Paper size
We know that customers sometimes have to fit their documents on paper other than the standard 8.5 by 11 inch size. With the PDF converter, you can choose the US letter size, as well as legal size, ledger size, and European A3, A4, A5, B4, and B5 sizes.

3. Headers and footers
The PDF converter will also give you the ability to merge fields and add the following information to headers and footers on each document page:

  • Booking fields
  • Event fields
  • Location fields
  • Contact fields
  • Account fields
  • Page numbers and page numbers with total pages (example: page 1 of 2)

You can see an example of options you can add to headers and footers of documents below:

How to use the PDF converter
New Tripleseat customers will automatically have the feature in their accounts. Current customers can turn on the PDF converter for each of your document types by going to Settings > Documents > Click the Edit Layout button to the right of your document > Click the Layout Properties button > Scroll down and click the checkbox next to Enable Advanced PDF converter. Once you turn on the converter, text boxes will appear below for you to customize your headers and footers. After you make your selections, click the Save Layout button to save your document layout changes.
