4 Labor Day Promotion Ideas for Your Venue

Labor Day weekend is the last holiday weekend of the summer and it’s a moneymaker for the hospitality industry.

In 2020, the holiday weekend saw the most recovery of seated diners since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. For hotels, experts are predicting 48% more people will travel for Labor Day in 2021.

If you’re still trying to figure out what your venue should offer to increase sales over Labor Day weekend, get inspired by these four Tripleseat customers.

1. Be the party spot

People who don’t have solid plans for a holiday weekend love being able to go to a neighborhood restaurant that has something special going on.

Smoke BBQ+Skybar in San Antonio is making Labor Day easy for their customers. Their two-day Labor Day weekend event starts on Sept. 5 with drink specials, wings and waffles brunch, and live DJs all day. On Sept. 6, they’re offering fajitas and margaritas, a local musician, and more DJs.

2. Have something fun for the kids

Some kids don’t start school until after Labor Day so why not offer some fun for them during their last summer weekend?

Seaport Hotel Boston has partnered with Boston Harbor Now in their Chalk the Walk event. They’re providing their youngest Labor Day guests with sidewalk chalk at check-in. Plus, their Seize Summer rate includes $17 for parking and a $15 food and beverage credit.

3. Create a backyard event

Outdoor parties are so much better when you are a guest and don’t have to deal with planning and cleanup.

Vista Brewing in Driftwood, Texas, was made for a backyard bash with their 21 acres, brewery, tasting room, and beer garden. Their Labor Day celebration runs from Sept. 2-Sept. 6 and features food collaborations with local vendors, a picnic menu, 16 beers on tap, specials on beer to go, live music each night, and plenty of space to enjoy it all.

4. Provide gourmet grilling supplies

Some people prefer hosting a big Labor Day gathering but don’t want to stress out over the food.

Smith & Wollensky’s locations have the perfect solution. Their S&W at Home meals have multiple options for grilling packages or choose a la carte options from a long list of steaks and sides. Plus, you can add your choice of dozens of sparkling and white wines, red wines, and a list of cocktails to complete your meal.
