November 2022 Marketing Ideas for the Hospitality Industry

Hello, November! It feels like the fall season is flying by as we enter a new month. The fall has shown great things for the hospitality industry, with new food and drink items shining on fall menus everywhere.

As we move into November, many of the same specials that have worked thus far can still apply, but we have new ideas too! Take a look at our list of various food, drink, and holiday “holidays” that can be implemented into the marketing strategy for a restaurant, hotel, or unique venue in November.

For starters, everyone in the United States knows that November is the month of one of the biggest food holidays of the year: Thanksgiving. If your restaurant isn’t offering a fun special for #ThanksgivingDay on Nov. 24, this is your sign to whip something together! While Thanksgiving can be a holiday for home-cooked meals, it is also a holiday for takeout, catering, and last-minute online ordering when grandma burns the apple pie. Make sure your local community knows what you will be offering to them.

Other fun holidays surrounding Thanksgiving include #Drinksgiving on Nov. 23, #NationalCranberryRelishDay on Nov. 22, and #Friendsgiving, which doesn’t have one official holiday because it can be celebrated on any date leading up to Thanksgiving. If your kitchen closes on Thanksgiving or the day-of holiday rush is too much for your business, consider offering a special #Friendsgiving package throughout November for guests to take up as they schedule their plans with friends.

While Thanksgiving may be the highlight in November, there are other ways you can up your marketing with creative offerings well before the end of the month. #WorldVeganDay on Nov. 1 will be great for plant-based restaurants, #NationalNachosDay on Nov. 6 is always a crowd-pleaser, #NationalSundaeDay on Nov. 11 can add a kick to your dessert offerings, and #NationalFrenchToastDay on Nov. 28 can highlight any brunch menu.

When thinking specifically about events and celebrations that bring people together, a few big ones could up the camaraderie in November. If you are a sports bar or restaurant, #NationalJerseyFriday on November 4 is an important date. This holiday, landing on the first Friday of November, is a day for sports fans to come together and show pride for their favorite teams. Take advantage of this fun holiday by offering a drink or appetizer special to any fans who show up wearing their jerseys.

Next up is #NationalHappyHourDay on Nov. 12, which frankly should be celebrated every day. While your bar may already be the go-to spot for awesome happy hour offerings, how can you go above and beyond for the official happy hour holiday? It seems like fate that #NationalHappyHourDay lands on a Saturday this year, and people are bound to be celebrating.

Finally, #WorldKindnessDay on Nov. 13 is an important date to remember. How can your restaurant support a give-back initiative on this special day? Encourage your community to get involved leading up to #WorldKindnessDay and then host something special on this important Sunday to spread kindness in the community.
