Cocktail of the Week: The Black Russian
It’s time to dust off that Thanksgiving hangover and head out to face the elements on this Black Friday. I’m assuming most of you, like me, need some serious reinforcements. Whether you have a turkey hangover or an actual liquor-induced hangover, The Black Russian cocktail will cure it. It’s the epitome of hair of the dog with a little added caffeine to get you up and ready to take on black Fridaywith a smile … and a designated driver. It’s also pretty good to sip while sitting on your couch binge-watching Hallmark Christmas movies. If, like me, that’s the sort of thing you’re into on Black Friday.
Fun fact, coffee liqueur contains about 25% the amount of caffeine found in the same volume of coffee. If you think you need more caffeine you can always add a touch of black chilled coffee to your glass.
Ingredients
- Vodka (any brand will do)
- Coffee liqueur (I recommend using Kahlua but any brand will do)
- Maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)
- Ice
One serving recipe
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 1 oz coffee liqueur
- 1 maraschino cherry
- A couple of ice cubes
Start with a rocks glass and add a couple of cubes of ice. Pour vodka over the ice, add the coffee liqueur, garnish with a cherry, and enjoy!
